Thirteenth Station: The body of Jesus is placed in the arms of his mother
Scripture
“Because where your keep your treasures is where you’ll find your heart” (Matthew 6:21).
Meditation
How can it be? The sky should have turned gray,
the stores closed their shutters, people their blinds
while the sun stands frozen. The world has stopped.
My most precious one is gone, earth should shake.
Not this. Not this continuance, like the
worlds upon worlds can continue to spin.
Prayer
Jesus, through the grief of your mother we are reminded that it is only in the critical hours of crisis and loss that we remember the true treasures on this earth—the spouses, children, siblings, parents, and friends—who we take for granted until they are gone. Through our memory of your Passion, help us hold tight the treasure of each other. Amen.
